Los Angeles-based drummer and composer Jason Smith, with Gary Husband and Dave Carpenter, have crafted a refreshing and uncompromising vision of the jazz trio in Smith's debut recording as a leader, Think Like This. This outing mixes new compositions like Gnu York and Taylor Made with ambitious and inventive interpretations of works by Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock and Kenny Wheeler. It's an audiophile piano trio recording of exceptional quality, and features the debut of Gary Husband in a jazz trio setting as a pianist.
