Irene Kral's superb interpretation of ballads, delivered in a subtle and emotive style gained her a high reputation with cognoscenti. Since her death, she has become something of a cult figure amongst performers and fans. An elegantly poised ballad singer, she acknowledged Carmen McRae as one of her musical guides. Few other singers could interpret a full program of slow ballads and hold one's interest throughout. The importance Irene placed on the lyric, and her understated yet ever present sense of swing influenced many.

Irene Kral はあまり有名とは言えませんが、Jackie ＆ Roy の Roy Kral の妹です。　これ程うまい歌手もそうそういないと思います。　若い頃はキャピキャピした感じの歌でしたが、この頃は円熟して中低域の声が心に染み入る程、凄い歌手に成長しています。　このアルバムは Alan Broadbent との全編バラードでデュオ演奏ですが、最後の最後まで聞き入って浸れるアルバムになっています。　同じシリーズで「Gentle Rain」も同じくらい良いです。　来日した際は仕事で行けませんでしたが、来日記念アルバムが出ています。　Junior Mance のトリオ演奏をバックにしたアルバムもあるのですが、残念ながらCD化されていない様です。　Ella、Carmen、Sarah、Anitaとか有名な歌手ばかり聴かないで、こういう不出世の素晴らしい歌手を聴いてもらいたいと思います。　声も音程もブレスの仕方も完璧、しかも心に響く歌手です。
