'Support Your Local Poet'. With the release of 'The Remote Part', perceived wisdom has it that Scottish four-piece Idlewild - Roddy Woomble (vocals), Rod Jones (guitars), Bob Fairfoull (bass), Colin Newton (drums) - are at last on the verge of something big. Recorded in stages over the last 14 months between touring America, with the bulk of it being written in October at a cottage in Inchnamph in the Highlands, 'The Remote Part' retains the invigorating energy and fiercenessof old, simultaneously developing the band's trademark sound into songs of truly epic proportions. Thriving on bold musical invention and reinvention, the 'Wild revel in surprising the listener with their new-found musical diversity on tracks such as the widescreen 'You Held The World In Your Hands' and the swirling, atmospheric 'American English'. The band's classic songwriting is further showcased on the down-tempo closing track, 'In Remote Part/Scottish Fiction' featuring renowned Scottish poet Edwin Morgan reciting a poem of the same title.

97年だったかな。１stの「Self Healer」って曲の、叫びながら突っ走る姿に将来性を感じつつ、その後存在を忘れてしまい、Ｗ杯イヤーのフジロックに行く前にこのＣＤを発見。３曲目を聴いた瞬間、タマげたね。「歌ってる」ではないですか。笑　良い声そして伝えたい事を上手く表現しているし、彼らは良い方向に進んでいると思います。新作も素晴らしいですね。なんで、注目されないんだろうね。
