14歳からソンを歌い始め、アフロ・キューバン音楽の全盛期だった50年代に活躍したものの、その後は忘れられた存在になっていたところ、1997年の『Buena Vista Social Club』によって再び注目される事となりました。当アルバムは2007年3月に発売されたもので日本盤は初登場。哀愁を感じさせる作品が多く収録され、この直後のヨーロッパ・ツアー終了後に死去。これが最後の作品となりました。
