今作と次作『Ｋｉｃｋ』で一躍全米はおろか世界に名を知らしめたＩＮＸＳ！ＭＴＶと言うのは偉大だと思いますよ。８０’ｓの一発屋では決してありません！マイケル・八チャンスの訃報には驚きましたし残念でなりませんでした！

初めてwhat you needを聴いた時は衝撃的でした。全米チャートのベスト10に入るヒット曲になりましたが、キャッチーなんだけど、少しファンキーな感じ、攻撃的な感じがブレンドされ最高にカッコいいロックソングになっています。彼等がオーストラリア出身というのが意外に思ったのですが、今から思えばアメリカ、イギリスのヒットチャートに影響されない独特の音楽スタイルを作り出せた理由はそこなのかなと思います。

（小）中高一貫でフルにエイティーズを経験してしまった。そんな俺様には、どんなに薄っぺらいと言われようとも大切な大切な80年代音楽を貪り聴く日が一年に何度か訪れる。特に風邪っぴきで引き籠るこんな寒い日に、INXSなどは最高だ。”What You Need”という曲が、このバンドの初の全米トップ10ヒットだったと思う。当時MTVで流れまくってて、初めてPVを観て、「カッコエーなーこれ」、となって買いに急いだアルバムがこれだった。1985年だからまだVynal！今改めて見たけど見開きジャケでカッコよし。次のアルバム（Kick）の方が爆発的に売れたんだけど、俺にとっては断然こっちやな〜
