１９８０年、Steve Marriott、Jerry Shirle...

１９８０年、Steve Marriott、Jerry Shirleyに、元ジェフ・ベック・グループのBob Tench、黒人ベーシストのAnthony ”Sooty” Jonesというメンバーで再編された80’s Humble Pieの２作品「On To Victory」と「Go For The Throat」の2on1+８１年のライヴの２枚組。 当時このスタジオ２作品は国内発売されなかったし、話題にもならなかったのだが、私はたまたま輸入盤店で見つけて購入し、愛聴した。全盛期には及ばないが、Marriottは声もよく出ており、気合いも十分。少なくとも全盛期メンバーでの最終作「Street Rats」よりはずっといい出来だと思う。 ２００５年に「The Atlanta Years」なる未発売に終わった音源と８３年のライヴを収めたアルバムが発売された時には、メンバー・クレジットはマリオット以外は知らない名前ばかりだったが、ここにコンパイルされたライヴは８１年のものということで、上述のパーソネルによるものだろう。 ２００２年のGreg Ridley、Jerry Shirleyらとの再々編にも参加したBob Tenchがステージでマリオットにどんな風に絡んでいたのか、ぜひ聴いてみたい。
