One of the most popular and prolific film composers in the past 15 years, Hans Zimmer created music for some of the most successful motion pictures in Hollywood history - 'Backdraft', 'Days Of Thunder', 'Black Rain', 'As Good As It Gets' and many more. Best known for his inventive mix of traditional orchestral composition and state-of-the-art electronics, Zimmer virtually transformed the Hollywood film music and set the standard by which all others are measured.

Zimmer's scores for such films as 'Crimson Tide', 'Rain Man', 'Driving Miss Daisy', 'The Lion King' as well as 'The Prince Of Egypt' have won him multiple awards (including Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe) and produced best-selling recordings. He is now the most sought-after film composer in the world.

Hans Zimmer was born Sept. 12, 1957 in Frankfurt, Germany and moved to London when he was sixteen. There he wrote advertising jingles for television commercials during 70s. After service in the Air-Edel, Zimmer collaborated with the Buggles on their debut 'The Age Of Plastic', which spawned a hit 'Video Killed The Radio Star', and Ultravox. He then began his career in the film industry, working with such composers as Stanley Myers, David Byrne and Ryuichi Sakamoto. His collaboration with Myers include soundtracks to such films as 'Moonlighting' and 'Success Is The Best Revenge'. Along with Byrne and Sakamoto, he wrote music for Oscar-winning 'The Last Empero' in 1986.

His solo career kicked off with the apartheit-themed 'A World Apart', leading to Academy-nominated 'Rain Man' (1988), which was a key undertaking in his career. From early '90s up to now, Zimmer's output was astonishing; he wrote music for a string of blockbuster movies like 'Days Of Thunder', 'Bird On A Wire', 'Pacific Heights', 'Thelma And Louise', 'True Romance' and 'Cool Running'. Other scores of note included 'The Fan', 'The Rock', 'The Peacemaker', 'Thin Red Line', 'Scream 2' and 'The Last Days'. He went on to write music for many TV series including 'Millennium' and 'First Born'.

Zimmer has been awarded several gold and platinum records, and his score for 'The Lion King' earned him an Oscar, a Golden Globe and two Grammys, followed by 'Crimson Tide' winning a Grammy, and 'As Good As it Gets' and 'The Preacher's Wife' each honored an Oscar.

His recent works include music for 'Gladiator' and 'Mission Impossible 2', 'Hannibal', 'Black Hawk Down', 'Pearl Harbor', 'Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron', 'Tears Of The Sun' and 'The Last Samurai'. His influence on film music is so great that it can be felt on the score to recent hit movie 'Pirates Of The Caribbean', written by his collaborator Kaus Badelt.
