For The Birds

Greater Sirens are a postpunk/new wave-influenced indie rock band based in the San Francisco Bay Area and formed in 2007 by brothers Greg and Tim Andresen, who had been playing together for about ten years. Greg's unconventional style of guitar-esque bass-playing paired with Tim's dynamic drumming helped shape the unique sound of the band. They eventually recruited Nastaran Amini, Matt Whitbred, and Steve Taylor on keyboards, bass, and lead guitar respectively. For the Birds, the band's debut EP, was recorded and mixed at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in early 2011. Jesse Nichols, who engineered the EP, describes Greater Sirens' sound as, 'modern, sharp, indie rock that's not afraid of the '80s.'
