Product Description

Paying homage to their Progressive Rock and 90's Grunge influences, The Gravity Guild has released an Acoustic inspired 7-song Album titled The Great Divide that expands on the band's experimental soundscape while offering listeners a moody and introspective experience. The impetus for The Great Divide came by accident while guitarist and engineer Jay Way was sifting through demo songs for singer Colin Simson. The pair inadvertently opened an old session Way had recorded with his acoustic. Simson was instantly fascinated. I heard the first four chords - some really off the beaten path sounding stuff for Jay, and I was mesmerized. I grabbed a pen and wrote the lyrics on the spot. Ten minutes later we had finished the demo for 'My Own Worst Enemy'... The tracks for The Great Divide and I - their debut full-length electric album, were recorded simultaneously giving the band an opportunity to have a follow up release less than a year after the release of I. These contrasting styles inspired the band to reimagine a couple tunes from I using their new acoustic approach. Ominous tracks The Game and Time & Again were stripped down and restructured, giving the audience a fresh perspective. The Great Divide highlights the flexibility and vast imagination of this assertive band that challenges the conventions of modern rock. Progressive Grunge? Maybe. It is also possible that The Gravity Guild defies categorization. -Phil - Sonic Abuse 'I' is a clever, well-written album that touches on any number of alt-rock milestones whilst maintaining it's own sense of identity. The Gravity Guild have crafted an alt rock album that looks both backward and forward in equal measure. Given how few people operate within the genre (and fewer still with such passion and power) it will undoubtedly thrill all those who have worn their AiC records into the ground, whilst offering something new to those who missed the alt-explosion of the nineties entirely. A hugely successful effort from a band who show great potential. -Rustyn Rose - Metalholic Magazine ...

The Gravity Guild manages to blend a mixture of classic progressive rock styles with modern progressive metal all wrapped up with a thick cocoon of 90's grunge. Progressive grunge? Perhaps, but it's more impressive and refined than that, as gracefully displayed on the band's full-length self-released debut,'I'... Think Dream Theater and Rush meet Alice in Chains and Soundgarden... -Keira Kentworthy - Krash City Magazine The Gravity Guild's album 'I' shows a strong influence from elements of 90s alternative rock and progressive metal. My first impression of the album is a similarity to the style that of Tool, Alice in Chains and Machine Head. However the technicality and structure of the songs sounds well thought out and professionally done...

A powerful and aggressive feeling is created while when listening to the emotion and dark subjects in the lyrics...

If you're a huge fan of Grunge and Progressive Metal then I guarantee you'll enjoy listening to 'I'... 4/5 stars -Susan Masino - Author - Let There Be Rock - The Story of AC/DC 'The Gravity Guild has it all. The sound, the songs, the chops. They remind me of what you would get if you crossed Audioslave with Sevendust. Clearly lethal, but completely addictive. -Sylvia Massy - Music Producer - Tool, System of A Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, Sevendust, Deftones 'This is a band that's got SOME BALLS' -Mojo's Pick of the Week - Mojo's Army 'The Gravity Guild is an LA power group with a dirty, slow burn sound that would appeal to fans of southern hard rock or classic grungemasters Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Check em out!'
