Gordon Van Gent has been a music creator and worship leader living in the Kalamazoo area since 2003 when he entered the school of music at Western Michigan University. Since then, he has had the privilege of working with some of the great talent in the area both in creating music but in leading a variety of communities in worship. Gordon's music weaves contemporary popular sounds with an array of influences from the jazz and classical world. Along with this, Gordon will often sing songs written by his worship music influences like Michael Gungor, John Mark McMillan, and Jon Foreman. His music tends to be very eclectic and will span a variety of styles, giving the listener a very unique musical experience. Through all this, Gordon aims to use the gifts given to him to build the kingdom of God wherever he may be led. 'Gordon Van Gent might seem like a newcomer to the scene, but he has seemingly already done it all. His foray into music included rocking pop rock tunes in high school, but van Gent went on to study jazz guitar at Western Michigan University and graduated with a Masters in Composition. He has an original album due out this summer, hugging close to his pop rock roots, but implementing the savvy of his formal musical training.
