Product Description

Based in London and born in Cuba, multi award winner salsa singer George Peguero brings together a mash-up of top-notch performers and singers representing both regions. The result is an eclectic and electric combination of lively percussion, wild horn, and funky rhythms that hold true to the salsa form with some new and adventurous sound brimming with Caribbean and Latin flavors. 'El Rumbon Cubano' opens with a santoor-like trill and a few background voices with blaring horns and fiery percussion. 'Ain't No Sunshine' is one of the only two covers on the album. The Flugel Horn accompany the languid piano, sauntering percussion, and soulful vocals in an almost ballad-esque manner. George's vocals alternate between English and Spanish throughout. 'Nia' begins with a brief buzzing, electric guitar sound with percussion and low piano chords. The horns, rasp, and backup vocals make 'Nia' a danceable and inviting song from the island of paradise. 'Solo Ma' open with a fast-paced, almost Gypsy-like but Brazilian bain rhythm with punchy piano montuno style, percussion, and accordion-like embellishments. The fast, vocal delivery seemingly matches the whirlwind instrumentation. 'Me Enamor', a bachata song, opens with a island guitar and acoustic-techno sound with backup vocals that makes it unique. The song burst with vibrant life and happy melodies. 'Falling For You' begins with a few cascading female vocals amidst a dance beat with techno flare and percussion with backup vocals. The wavering female vocals float over a fast, rap section and a ballad-esque, Iglesias-like lead vocal line. George Peguero's thirteen-track release incorporates the best of salsa, rumba, Caribbean, and Cuban infusions with Spanish and English vocals throughout. The vibrant rhythms and moods creates a stirring album of unique tunes with a heavy dose of traditional instrumentation, commanding flutes, horns, and saxophones, as well as classic piano and violins playing with varied male and female vocals. The album contains a slight, throwback to Latin music of the 1960's and 70s, which is highly-desirable, due to it's pleasant, ear-friendly melodies and soothing, dance rhythms. The result is highly-applauded for Latin music fans.
