『薄桜鬼』シリーズとは、2008年にオトメイトから発売された大人気アドベンチャーゲーム。
本作はその1作目で、土方歳三や斎藤一をはじめとした新選組隊士たちとの恋愛が展開していく。
彼らとの恋だけではなく、新選組がどのように戦い、幕末を生き抜いていったのか、その生き様も描かれる。

　プレイヤーの分身となる主人公は“雪村千鶴”（名前変更可能）。
ある日、新選組が抱える重大な秘密を知ってしまったことで、彼らと行動することに——。
物語を進めていくと、やがて新選組や自身にまつわる謎がひも解かれていく。
