Product Description

Fistful of Grits is a Groove, Blues, Roots, Rock N Roll Band from the American South founded by Alex F. Ross. Ross, born in Mississippi in 1971 has made a concentrated effort to recapture the sound from the early 1970's while throwing in the cutting edge of the modern musical era. This CD has incorporated all types of music that have been born in the American South from Blues and R and B to the Funk and Groove of Chicago that came via Mississippi. Ross called on long time friend and fellow musician Bud Bays to produce this CD which is the first that the group has released. A special note should be made in reference to the third song on the CD which is dedicated to the late Great Eddie Hinton an entitled 'Eddie Don't Live Here'. This song includes the long time great musician Billy Earheart who played with Hinton in the 70s on several occasions. Ross who writes all compositions on the CD believes that Hinton never got the respect that he deserved just like so many other great musicians that 'Fly under the Radar' (Jim Dickinson) do not enjoy as well. If you enjoy the 'musical gumbo' that the South can produce from time to time you will like this CD. You will not find synthetic instruments on this work but instead will hear tones of old Fender and Marshall amps coupled with Memphis Horns, Hammond Organs, great southern backing vocals and the slide guitar which made southern music famous!
