    フェリックス・スラトキンは1950年代にハリウッド・ボウル交響楽団と多数の録音を残しました。 こんにちではほとんど復刻されないものの、繰り返し発売されているのがこのCDに収められたガーシュウィンとグローフェの作品です。 共に録音当時新しい音楽に入った20世紀アメリカの管弦楽曲で、キレが良く、軽快な50年代のアメリカらしいご機嫌な快演が続きます。 オーケストラは録音用に集められたメンバーによるものとの事ですが、技術力も高く、安定しています。 かなり古い録音ですので、最新録音と同じとはいきませんが、年代の割には良い方でしょう。
