Fairport Convention was one of the most influential bands of all time, launching the careers of Ian Matthews, Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson. The band were among the founding bands that developed English Folk Rock. The band still exists and continue to play shows and record albums. By 1974, the band had seen many shifts in the line-up. Sandy Denny, who had left a few years prior, returned. In 1974 the band toured the United States playing headlining shows and opening for a variety of acts. They played a number of shows at My Father's Place in Roslyn New York. The shows were a mix of tunes from Sandy Denny's solo albums and songs long associated with the band.
