    女性パンク・バンドX-RAY SPEXのサックス奏者だったローラ・ロジックを中心としたバンドで、これは初期のアルバムと主だった曲を集めたコンピレーションだ。 このエッシェンシャル・ロジックは、一時期チャールズ・ヘイワードがメンバーだったり、ローラがレッド・クレイオラとのコラボ「Kangaroo?」やスウェル・マップス、レインコーツのアルバムに参加したりと、この時期の重要なアーティストと関わっている。 音の方は、この時期特有のねじれたサックスに浮遊感のあるヴォーカル、シュールでとぼけたメロディ・センスもあり、面白い音作りをしていると思う。
