Product Description

This is Eric Straumanis' first album as a front man since his 2001 release Thunder And The Plains. This collection of eleven songs was recorded and co-produced with Jeff Finlin in Fort Collins, Colorado. The tracks on this disc show more of Straumanis' 60s and 70s rock and pop influences, but keep a close tie to his previous roots and Americana leanings. Tapping toes here are best adorned with Italian boots and Cuban heels. The songs on The Weight Of Nothing To Lose feature tight arrangements and are loaded with the appropriate guitar textures, from jangle to fuzz to echo. There are two guest appearances by the Subdudes' John Magnie, and throughout, Finlin provides the groove on drums. The themes on this album reflect Straumanis' Midwestern background, referencing ill-fated road trips, strained relationships, lost illusions (delusions?) and inevitable mortality. It's subject matter for a Forty-something trying to grow into his adult rock and roll years gracefully.
