The Endemic Ensemble, led by bassist Steve Messick, is a contemporary jazz quintet with a focus on new musical ideas without compromising melody. The music of the Endemic Ensemble pulls from all styles of jazz with an infusion of 20th century classical. A conceptual approach to an entire CD of music composed as an entire piece, with textural nods to the theme of lunar scape and the sparse layering of musical ideas and melodies.
