It's About Time

Sisters and classical performing artists Robin Rash Davis and Kristin Rash Miesbauer had long shared a deep love for Irish music which led them to play and study Irish traditional music in Limerick during a summer abroad in 2001. Soon afterwards, family friend and performing colleague David Conley became captivated with Celtic folk music while living in England on a sabbatical. They began to explore these styles together informally while performing in church and in local concerts. As public demand grew, they partnered with a local folk musician, Luke Brodine, to found Emerald Road in 2006. Since then, they have performed at many upstate events and venues, from pubs to churches to concert halls; and recorded and released their self-titled debut CD on the MacDowell Recordings label. When Luke moved in 2008, the remaining members joined with Danny Miller, an area Irish trad performer and folk songwriter, and Michael Peckham, a multi-talented instrumentalist and singer. In 2010, Emerald Road added David Benedict, an exceptional mandolin and guitar player to round out the band's lineup. Currently, Emerald Road has just completed a new recording project and is continuing to perform across the region! Their energetic and passionate style is rooted in Irish traditional music. However, other musical elements are part of their diverse repertoire and backgrounds: from classical to jazz, bluegrass to world folk, their playing is influenced by some of the best artists and songs in these genres. Moreover, they believe that their talents are fueled by the good news of Jesus Christ, and they hope to give listeners glimpses of grace as they play. To wrap it all together, one could label their music as an eclectic mix of Irish trad and Celtic folk, which is a good place to start in capturing the unique sound that is Emerald Road.
