Product Description

'Art Monk' is the 6th official solo album by Earleybird and he tackles a variety of subjects while also handling a majority of the production with his original and sample infused beats with assistance from Skip To My Left on four tracks. Topics range from appreciation of his father in the touching tribute song 'My Father', to questioning of the treatment of women by society at large in the tender, Tupac-inspired song 'Woman', and to inspirational messages conveyed in songs such as 'Dreams' and 'Bear Hug'. He displays an epic sense of storytelling in the gripping and true account of his version of events that transpired on Labor Day, 2002 in the Ice Cube influenced 'Bad Day' and joined by Wisconsin Native American Rapper Buggin Malone, he paints a tale of a friend who spent time incarcerated recently in the moving song, 'Peace Pipe'. He also raps about love and lament in 'Rainbows' and 'Sangria' and touches on other topics such as the environment, runaway slaves and his firm anti-capitalist beliefs in other songs on the album. One of his best offerings to date, the album covers a variety of topics while not compromising his artistic preferences and vision.
