ニュー・アルバム「THE WAR」はデビュー時から引き継いできたEXOの世界観から新たな展開を見せる作品でこれまでとは一味違う音楽スタイルを披露する。タイトル曲 "Ko Ko Bop"は面白い発音「Ko Ko」と、音楽に合わせて踊るダンスを意味する「Bop」を結び付けた曲名で「リズムに合わせて楽しく踊る」という意味が込められたEXOらしいナンバー。アルバムには全9曲が収録される。
