Now part of the popular hmGold series, this classic recording from the harmonia mundi archives is available again at mid-price. Dvork wrote no fewer than ninety-three songs for solo voice and piano. They follow in the tradition of Schubert and Schumann, but are clearly influenced by the rhythms and colors of Czech folk music. Although she was born in Argentina, Bernarda Fink's roots are in Slovenia and she is fluent in Czech. As a result, she approaches this music not only with an exquisite voice and keen musical skills, but also with a clear understanding of the texts and the music's unique and rich cultural background.
