78年発表のデビューアルバム。パンク全盛期のイギリスでこのアルバム収録のどこか切ない名曲『Sultans Of Swing』によって知名度を上げ翌年アメリカでブレイク。R＆Bやカントリーなどのルーツミュージックをベースに、ギターのマークノップラー独特のフィンガー・ピッキングで哀愁のある大人なROCKに仕上げています。ディランばりの枯れた声も魅力
