ソロとしてはかなり久しぶりで、Ｈ＆Ｏの近年作品からでも５年ぶりである。しかし、そんなブランクを感じさせないのは『Live from Daryl’s House』を３年以上も前から演っているからでしょう。 このアルバムはまさしくそのセッションをそのまま表現していて、更に枯渇することのない不変のメロディセンス…もう素晴らしいの一言。お世辞抜きで、80年代の代表作に匹敵する傑作です。

これは私が25年前に聞きたかったダリル・ホールだ。妙に流行の音に踊らされることもなく、等身大のアレンジで、良い曲を自分らしく歌っている。これはまさしく迷いのない人間が作り出した音楽である。本当にどの曲も良く書けているし、良く仕上がっているので、アルバムを通して聞いて楽しめるのはもちろん、mp3でどの曲が他のアーティストの曲と混ざって聞こえてきても、スキップせずに聞けることだろう。
