Darwin Deez was born in North Carolina to Maher Baba disciples. He attended, hated and dropped out of Wesleyan and moved to NYC where he fell in with the anti-folk Sidewalk Cafi crown and waited tables at Angelica Kitchen. He wrote and recorded this self-titled debut album, DARWIN DEEZ, in his apartment over a period of two and half years using an old tower PC, some effects plug-ins, a practice amp and an inexpensive microphone. His songs are mostly stripped down and kept single and unadorned but they pulse and throb deliciously with life and a rare wit. Certainly it is difficult to imagine anyone else with such a fondness for twisted wordplay and lyricism, whilst also maintaining an emotive undertow of sadness and longing in his oeuvre.

キュートなヘアスタイルにヘンテコなダンスで異彩を放つNYブルックリンからの新星。インディ・ロックやエレクトロなどを織り交ぜたローファイ・サウンドながら素朴で懐かしさがあり、同じブルックリンのDRUMSの様なユルさも併せ持つ。宅録系のひねくれた変化球的サウンドで聞くものを一発で虜にさせる。

ちょっとびっくりするようなファッションでへんてこなダンスをする彼。っていう情報しか知らなかったからオリジナル曲きいてみて衝撃。めちゃめちゃいいのです。最近はやりなローファイだけど何か他のと違う。 constellationsとかrader detectorとかよくききます。
