Mess Of Me

The words singer/songwriter usually conjure up images of a lone voice and an acoustic guitar. Don't get me wrong, Damon can do that. Just listen to the sweet, nostalgic I'm So Happy I Could Die or even 'Saint Cecilia' which adds a Nico-inspired string quartet. But he can also deliver unabashed pop songs like I Hope You Figure It Out and 'California Minute' as well as sexy R&B jams like Rocket Of Love or 'Mess Of Me'. And just as his writing chops let him cross genres at will, his production chops let him tailor each song to it's most effective, whether that is warm and sweet like 'Sometime Guy', to grandiose and cinematic like 'I Will Remain'. Damon lives in San Luis Obispo, a town on the central coast of California. Oprah and National Geographic said it was the happiest place in the country, so you know it's true. He operates out of Laurel Lane, a studio he put together with his friends on the south side of town. Damon will be releasing his latest album called 'Mess Of Me' on June 6, 2014. He wrote and produced it and had help with some mixes from nine-time Grammy Award-winner F. Reid Shippen. Aaron Sterling (John Mayer, Sara Bareilles, Gavin Degraw) played some drums on it, and longtime band mates, Larry Kim (sax) and Kristian Ducharme (keys) also contributed. BJ Tripnutz III describes him as a melange of Pharrell (producer/impresario side), John Mayer (singer-songwriter side), Stevie (R&B, Funk, Jazz - side), Doobies, and the two JTs (James and Justin). Mess of Me is the follow up to 2011's Live At The Mission and 2009's Laurel Lane, an album produced by Grammy-Award winner Ross Hogarth. Guests on Laurel Lane include, Sheile E., Rami Jaffe (Wallflowers, Foo Fighters), Sean Hurley (John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Vertical Horizon) and Lee Thornberg (Tower of Power, Supertramp).
