    第一次世界大戦の死者たちの声が谺する感動的な作品、そして演奏。Fields of the Fallenは英語とドイツ語で書かれた詩が交互に置かれている。Dawn on the Sommeは有名な1916年のソンムの戦が題材になっていて、弦楽四重奏が存在感を示す。第一次大戦がヨーロッパの人々にとっていかに深い傷跡を刻んだのかが、ひしひしと伝わるが、第一次大戦はおろか第二次大戦も知らない戦後世代のロナルド・コープがたいへんに深い共感をもって詩にとりくんでいるのが、何よりも感動的だ。バリトンはじめ演奏も素晴らしく、繰り返し聴いても色褪せない１枚。
