Magic Spell

Cold Suspension named their very first album, Magic Spell, after a song in the album written by Kevin Dockrell, college band-mate and long time friend of Cold Suspension's band manager. Kevin wrote this song 40 years ago, which challenged and inspired Cold Suspension to add their own personal touch to it, giving it a completely modern feel, and making it one of their favorite songs of the album. One of the hidden challenges that Cold Suspension encounters is constantly coordinating times to practice, perform, and to record an album. All 6 band-mates have their plates full with other high school commitments including sports, academics, and other types of social activities, but they didn't hesitate to put in the effort and time that was needed to produce this album. Making this album was also a good use of time, because during the winter months, all the kids have school, and are not able to play in venues like bars, as other local bands would. The band wanted their fans to be able to listen to their music year round, and not only during their most popular performing time of the summer. Drawing from influences of multiple different artists, from old-school classics to recent hits, Cold Suspension never fails to add their own flair to the music they choose. Part of the reason why we were so determined to make this album was to gain recognition for cover bands, and to show people that taking ideas and inspiration from other musicians is just as big a part of the music industry as writing the music ourselves. These musically gifted teenagers see a bright performing and recording future ahead for their remaining time as Cold Suspension, and on into the years to come.
