This recording marks Kyung-Wha Chung's third decade as a celebrated international star. A compilation of some of the world's most inspiring violin music, it will appeal to her fans and new audiences alike.
From the romantic to the technically challenging, Chung selects an interesting variety of compositions for this venture. Many listeners will recognize some of the pieces, such as J.S. Bach's "Air on a G String" from his Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D or the violin and piano arrangement of Schubert's "Ave Maria." The arrangements are intimate and delicate, bringing the listener into Chung's delightful world of music.
Accompanied by Itamar Golan on the piano, Chung displays both the technical genius that brought her to prominence and the emotional insight of an adult with over 30 years in the spotlight.

こんなツィゴイネルワイゼンは聴いたことがない。この曲は技巧曲であり、曲の娯楽性に反しているとでも解するならば、クラシックを聴く甲斐がない。こんなにも深い曲だったのかと、ただただ唖然とするばかりだった。

ありふれた曲目ですが、とても気軽には聴けません。張り詰めた緊張感と情熱の深さに胸が打たれます。彼女は、シベリウスやサン＝サーンスも素晴らしいですが、この作品も凄いです。

クラシックを聴き始めた頃からの愛聴盤で、いまだにこれをしのぐヴァイオリン演奏に出会っていません。『G線上のアリア』の深く嘆息する様なかすれた音色といい、ドヴォルザーク『ロマンティック小品』の哀切な響きといい、音楽表現の極限をとことんまで堪能できる名演です。是非とも一人でも多くの人に聴いて欲しい名盤です。
