マイスキーの最高傑作にして、最上の小品集。困るのはグノーによる程度の低い編曲アベ・マリアの選曲のみ、しかし最上級の演奏は、作品の質を遥かに超えて、素晴らしい演奏と心底認めざるを得ない。音楽の力は圧倒的で、音一発に知識が敗北させられてしまう。可能なら発売当初に入手できたフランスプレスを薦めます。ドイツプレスでも悪くはないが、艶が違う。この録音当時、確かにマイスキーは最高のチェリストだった。才能豊かな人間が堕落していく姿を見ることは辛い。復活してくれ！マイスキー！まだ間に合うはずだ。
