フルトヴェングラーと言えばEMIのイメージが強すぎるが、 グラモフォン＆デッカ盤ということで永久保存。

音質などについてはほかの方が書くだろうから言及しないが、天下のフルトヴェングラーである。今更文句は言わない。 さて、このＢＯＸはＤＧのフルニエやズーカーマンのＢＯＸと同じように、外箱を上に引っ張って開けるタイプ。うっかり不用意に持ち上げるとＣＤの入った 内箱ごと落下させる恐れあり。ご注意を。 ディスクの入った紙スリーブはオレンジと白を基調とした文字だけのシンプルなデザインで統一 されている。こういうほうが飽きが来なくてよい。ブックレットには写真といくつかのＬＰのジャケ写真も 載っているが、ちょっと物足りない。載せるならたんまり載せてほしい。解説は英文と独文。ただ、ブックレットにはひとつ問題がある。各曲の録音年月日が 年月までしか載っていないことだ。故・宇野功芳氏によるフルトヴェングラーの録音解説本では、きちんと 録音年月日が記載されており、いくつかの誤りや不足があるものの、今でも重宝している。だが、このＢＯＸのブックレットのように 年月までしか記載がないと、いろいろと困るのだ。たとえばベトの交５などは４７年５月２５日と２７日に同じベルリン・フィルで録音がある。 そこそこクラシックに通じている者なら、２５日はかつてはセヴンシーズ、今はAuditeから出ている音源で、この ＢＯＸに収められているグラモフォン録音は２７日のほうだとわかるが、初心者にはどうだろうか。このブックレットの記載では４７年５月と、年月までしかわからないというのでは、あまりに不親切ではないのか。 しかもなぜかＣＤ７のモーツァルトとシューベルトの録音のみ、それぞれ1944年２月８日と１２月８日の年月日まで記載されている。 なぜほかの録音が年月のみの表記なのか、まったく謎である。この一点だけが残念なところ。（なので星ひとつ減） ともあれ、個人的には、コツコツと単品で集めてきた手持ちのＣＤとかなりのダブリがあるものの、未入手だった音源がこのＢＯＸのおかげで聴くことができるし、もう２０年近く前に買った怪しいメーカーから の１０枚組のＣＤセットに頼らなくても済むようになって助かった。
