CHOPIN SUPER HITS assembles a collection of recordings culled from Sony Classical's vast archive, offering a fairly broad representation of the composer's canon of solo piano works. Almost all of the selections on the disc are performed by Philippe Entremont who demonstrates a profound understanding of Chopin's pianistic language in works such as the "Grande Valse Brilliante," the "Fantaisie-impromptu," and the "Military" Polonaise. He displays proficient technique and musical sensitivity throughout, and a particular highlight is his elegantly stated reading of the Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2. Gary Graffman gives an atmospheric account of the "Raindrop" Prelude while Andre Watts brings poetic grace to the Lento from Sonata No. 2, Op. 35.
