音楽の中でもっとも重要な要素である遊び心に満ち溢れた本作は、ヘルマン・ヘッセの長編小説『ガラス玉演戯(The Glass Bead Game)』に触発されたもので、郊外の遊び場、バスケットボール選手、東京のアーケード、ジェットコースター、そしてクリスタル・ケイ(!)、KOHH(!!)といった日本人アーティストの音・声をメロディの一部として使用。 フルート奏者のジョセリン・ミエンニエルや、作曲のパートナーでドラマーのマシュー・エドワードがステージで再演し、それらを収めるといった手法で録音されている。ヘッセを起点に雑踏音を含む多種多様な音、映像、即興といった要素を横断しつつ、自由かつユニーク、奔放かつ情熱的に構築した本作は間違いなくシャソルの最高傑作と言えるだろう。
