デヴィッド・スチュワート・チャドウェルとジェレミー・トーマス・クレイドという英国人ふたりがパリで出会い、その後1963年にロンドンで結成されたチャド＆ジェレミー。"Yesterday's Gone"でデビューした彼らは、英国人デュオながらフォーク・ロック的なサウンドで米コロンビア・レコードと契約。本作は彼らが1964年に発表したデビュー・アルバム。ヒットを記録したヴァン・マッコイ作の表題曲"Before & After"をはじめ、ドック・ポーマス＆モート・シューマン作の"Can't Get Used to Losing You"（アンディ・ウイリアムスで有名）やゴードン・ライトフット作の"For Lovin' Me"（PPMでも有名）などを収録。
