歌姫という言葉をあまり使いたくないが、彼女は使わずにいられない。 歳を重ねてもいつまでも変わらないボーカルにひたすら感動。 彼女には衰えという言葉は存在しないんだな。

全盛期の頃のような歌い上げる類の曲は、だんだんと鳴りを潜めていた最近のセリーヌ。紆余曲折あった上に、愛する夫が先立ち、絶望感でいっぱいであったことは想像するに難くない。そんな悲哀を歌うことで昇華させたかったのであろう。対訳を読まない段階でも、その悲痛な歌声が涙を誘う。ただ、そんな現状を嘆いてばかりでもない面も伺える。悲しみを乗り越える為に歌うだけではなく、少しずつでもそれらの感情を受け入れ、まだまだ前へ進む。そんな決意表明とも捉えられる。コロナ禍においてさらに浮き彫りになった、ただ美しいだけではないのが人が生きていくことならば、私たちには何が出来るのか？ 相当な勇気と覚悟を与えてくれる気がする。そんなアルバムだ。
