カーペンターズのデビュー・アルバム『涙の乗車券』。もともとは1969年に『オファリング』というタイトルでリリースされたが、すぐにジャケット、タイトルが変更されたというエピソードがある。録音当時、兄のリチャード・カーペンターは22歳、カレンは19歳ということで、後の作品の完成度と比べると若い雰囲気の漂う本作だが、リチャードの作曲家/アレンジャーとしての才、カレンの歌の上手さは早くもキラメキを見せている。

最初の「祈り」と最後の「神の祝福を」は聞き物。 また「眠れない夜」もいい。 「ワンダフルパレード」もいい。 もっと評価すべき作品。
