元ヴァニラ・ファッジのスーパードラマー、カーマイン・アピスとベーシストのティム・ボガードの強力リズムセクションを中心に結成され、70年代初頭には “レッド・ツェッペリンに対するアメリカからの回答” とも呼ばれた伝説のアメリカンハードロックバンド、カクタス。

ブルージーでザラつきのあるハードロックサウンドを展開し、モントローズ、AC/DC、ヴァン・ヘイレンなど次世代のハードロック〜ヘヴィメタルバンドに多大な影響を与えた彼らの軌跡を辿るCD８枚組ボックスセットが登場。

1970〜72年 ATCOレーベルから発表した４枚のスタジオアルバム『Cactus』『One Way… Or Another』『Restrictions』『'Ot 'N' Sweaty』に加えて、2004年と2007年に RHINO HANDMADEから限定リリースされていた２枚組の未発表ライヴ集『Fully Unleashed：The Live Gigs Vol.１』『Vol.２』もパッケージ。

『Fully Unleashed：The Live Gigs』には、71年メンフィスのエリスオーディトリアム、70年ワイト島フェスティヴァル、72年プエルトリコのマール・イ・ソル・ポップフェスティヴァル、71年NYバッファローのギリガンズクラブなどでのライヴ音源が収録されている。
