Rock/Americana/Pop/Jangly/Fun... Biography You may notice an occasional country influence in the music of Brewster, an element that may seem odd for a band based in the concrete jungle of New York City. That's because, when they need a place to write...some solitude... a place where they can work on music uninterrupted...they escape to upstate New York where they have a small farm. Here, they play as long and as loud as they like while drinking local moonshine or hard cider made from their own apple trees on the property. True story. This is their home base. There is plenty of room in this old farmhouse from 1860 for the band to crash. They work the land when they need a break, tending the massive garden and collecting vegetables for the evening meal or tilling the soil with their vintage 1939 tractor. When the work is done they go back to the old barn where they jam amid the hay bales and old wood. This makes it easy to understand why Brewster's music has such a diverse sound. They straddle two worlds--The innovative and exciting world of New York City...and the serenity and roots of the country. They have been told by labels in the past to 'pick a lane' but they just aren't interested. This is who they are. They would no more deny themselves an influence or a voice needing to be heard in their music than they would cut off a limb.
