Born A Ghost is about reaching out to a troubled, hurting world. Based on the experiences of songwriter Rory Miller, each song is a window into the soul. Songs of desperation, addiction, depression/anxiety, & a glimpse of not being alone. Hope. The first song 'So Long June' is an upbeat number about looking around you and finding no meaning. Some words taken from the book of Ecclesiastes, show how even the wisest person struggles with purpose. 'The Panic' is another catchy song about crippling anxiety/depression. The desperation of the lyrics and the sharp contrast of the happiness of the music is truly inspiring. 'Can't Do This' is about trying to overcome an addiction. It's a melodic yet ethereal number drenched in sweet reverb and delays. 'When I Fall' is a desperate plea to God for help before it's too late. It is an electronic rock song that starts mellow and builds to a furious climax of synth, drums, guitar, and vocals. 'Liar' turns into a fast paced rock song with a beautiful ethereal intro. It simply deals with hypocrisy in the church and in humans in general. 'Comfort' is a call to all of us who feel we don't fit in, who feel a abandoned by society, and overlooked by God or higher power. Finally 'Helicopter' is a pop/rock number that invites us to step outside and take a chance on God. It's the human condition to feel helpless. Try something new, have faith. It never hurts to try. You may find an answer or two. Born a Ghost is a melodic, catchy album filled with meaning. They fill a hole in 'christian' music. It is NOT praise music. It is music about the human condition focused on the troubles and heartaches that face us each day.
