Many Faces

On April 20, 2010, we finished the music for Many Faces. It came about through various studio sessions that eventually morphed into a singular project. At first, we had independent songs, which were separate from any congruent idea of an album. After a year or so of recording we realized that we had enough songs to comprise an album. Thus, one of the reasons we titled it Many Faces is because over different sessions with different musicians we composed different songs that merged into a common personality. This is what makes Many Faces. Many Faces is a multilayered concept. On the surface, it relates to the nature of the music tracks. Each song has a different flavor or face. There is a Little Rock, jazz, funk, and blues. On a deeper note, Many Faces relates to the human personality. Each person has many dispositions and faces. We are made of various elements and trillions of cells, all of which bond relatively by the breath of life. Scripture says, 'The Lord God formed man from the dust of the earth.' No one is two faced. That is an understatement. We have many faces. Our moods, feelings, and beliefs ever shift and change through our daily experience. 'The face of man is not a front for him to live his life behind but a frontier, the outermost, ever-changing edge of his life in all it's richness and multiplicity.' Fredrick Buechner The wonderful thing about music is that it captures the diversity of human emotion. Music can and should be as multifaceted, and as colorful as the soul in which it is bred. Many Faces attempts to portray the many reflections of the human experience thru different vibes and genres of music.
