Blackwater Mojo is the Reso-Phonic Stomp Rock duo of Seth & Erin Young. Hailing from Randolph County, West Virginia, their guitar-and-drum driven songs reflect the scenery and people of their beloved Mountain State. Their music has been described as rock de-evolved, taking modern music back to it's pre-war roots in the blues. The raw, minimalist sound we strive for is one that has been heard in rock music for years- and has been popularized in the current era by bands like The White Stripes and The Black Keys, says Erin Young, It's a sonic that isn't often explored in contemporary roots, country, and blues records, which tend to have more of an Americana or Pop Polish. The sound we want is somewhat genre-less and rough around the edges-at once vintage and modern. 'Cold Holler' is a collection of eight road-tested songs about love, life, and living in central Appalachia, and features cameos from Jared Roy on drums and percussion, Rob Masten on tenor sax, Rich Norwood on Baritone Sax, Anthony Nucilli on Trumpet, and noted Piedmont Blues legend Phil Wiggins on Harmonica. Engineered, recorded, and mixed by Mark Poole at Zone 8 Recording, and mastered by Brian Lucey of Magic Garden Mastering, the album delivers blues-based rock and country grooves in the band's signature minimal style and earthy flavor.
