ブラック・サバスが1971年に発表した3rdアルバムで名盤。名リフを繰り出すなかから、重くウネリのある独特のサウンドをモノにしていくというスタイルは、90年代になってグランジ勢やヘヴィ・ロック勢に多大な影響を与えた。前作の名作『パラノイド』とはまた違った味（アコースティカルな感じもある）は当初賛否を呼んだといわれているが（チャート的には全英5位）、現在は代表作のひとつとして挙がることが多い作品だ。
