Product Description

Billy Buchanan's music is best described as street smart soul meets southern fried rock and roll. Imagine Cee Lo Green hanging out in Motown with The Allman Brothers. Soulful, passionate, musical, and fun! Unapologetically wearing his influences on his sleeve, Buchanan borrows from the best, all the while creating his own unique blend of soul, modern funk, and blues based rock. Carefully wrapped in clever grooves, contagious riffs, soaring melodies, skillfully crafted chord progressions, and thought provoking lyrics, Buchanan's music is fresh yet pleasantly familiar. His forthcoming album, Fact Fiction & Other Contradictions, hit stores July 2, 2013. Originally from Cleveland, OH, Buchanan resides with his family in St. Augustine, FL and has also lived in Atlanta, GA, and Nashville, TN. From the age of 17, Buchanan honed his skills night after night in local venues. As an adult, his musical adventures have taken him to all 50 states and to over 25 countries. He has shared the stage with an amazingly diverse list of artists, including Shawn Mullins, Sixpence None The Richer, The New Orleans Suspects, Morris Day and The Time, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, Joy Williams (from The Civil Wars), Super Cat, G Love and Special Sauce, 24-7 Spyz, Switchfoot, KC & The Sunshine Band, Funky Meters, P.O.

D, N'Dea Davenport (from The Brand New Heavies), Skillet, The Four Tops, Alice In Chains, Rebecca St. James, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Salt-n-Pepa, and Jennifer Nettles (from Sugarland), to name a few. After high school, Buchanan did a short stint at Cleveland State University (voice scholarship). A year later, he attended the Atlanta Institute of Music. The music theory and songwriting studies there were intense. What he learned from the top notch instructors at A.I.M. still influences him to this day. For 10 years, he cut his teeth on the Atlanta music scene. It's hard to explain to people how unbelievable that music community was in the 90's. It's one of those things where You had to be there! During the decade that he played that scene, The Black Crowes, Shawn Mullins, The Marvelous 3 (featuring Butch Walker), John Mayer, David Ryan Harris, Dionne Farris, Xscape, Third Day, Michelle Malone, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, Kris Kross, William Duvall (Alice In Chains' current singer), TLC, Usher, Collective Soul, Da Brat, Monica, Goodie Mob (featuring Cee-Lo Green), Sevendust, Tony Rich, Soul Miner's Daughter (featuring Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland), Brendan O'Brien, Jermaine Dupree, Dallas Austin, all exploded out of the A.T.L. Buchanan was fortunate enough to perform with, record with, or get to know many of these artists and producers. As you could imagine, his musical world was changed forever. With that much success around him, he believed that anything was possible! After signing a developmental deal with Forefront Records, he moved to Nashville, TN in 1999. Even though he never released an album with them, he started to build a great reputation as a songwriter and performer. He eventually was hired to play guitar and sing background vocals for Grammy winning artist, Rebecca St. James. He was in her band for almost 4 years, and toured all over the world with her. In 2000, his band, Fusebox, signed a deal with Elevate Records/EMI and released two albums, Lost In Worship, and Once Again. What an amazing season. For the first time, he saw real success at radio. It was such a thrill for him to hear songs that he wrote on the radio. During the 7 years they were together, they traveled the globe, had 3 top 20 songs, and toured with great artists like Reliant K, Casting Crowns, Newsboys, Switchfoot, and Chris Tomlin, to name a few. After Fusebox disbanded, he moved to St. Augustine, FL and decided to focus on his solo career and his songwriting. He has since released 3 solo albums independently, The Music Man, Hold On, and Transparent. On these albums, he co-wrote with some very talented writers, including Busbee (Lady Antebellum, Timbaland, Katy Perry, Rascal Flatts), Mike Hartnett (Fergie, Trey Songz, Pink, Outkast), and Marc Byrd (God
