この指揮者は40番を非常にドラマティックに聴かせます。かつてこのCDシリーズで出ていた演奏も素晴らしかったですが、今度の新盤も優れた演奏です。最近流行のオーセンティックやら原典主義の演奏とは正反対の演奏で、学究派が歴史的観点や楽譜の表記から作曲家の真意に迫ろうとするなら、この人は自分の信念と作曲家への愛を魂の歌として歌い上げるタイプです。そこに好き嫌いも出てくるでしょうが、最近チヤホヤされる、物の分かったような若造指揮者などとは比べ物にならない内容を持った演奏である事は確かです。
