ライヴ活動を停止し時間と労力を費やして作りあげた、時代の頂点に立つアルバム。 タイトル曲のリプリーズを入れてみたりとコンセプトアルバムを意識して作られた。 さらに前作以上にサウンドの多様で、オーケストラやブラスバンド、インド楽器なども駆使し曲ごとの特徴を築いている。 叙情性豊かなラストソングの「ア・デイ・イン・ザ・ライフ」まで、聴くたびに発見がある傑作です。 1967年6月に発売され、1967年グラミー賞で最優秀アルバム賞他4部門受賞した。

言わずと知れた彼らの代表作の一つ。トータルコンセプトの先駆け。青盤で断片だけを聴いてもその良さは全く伝わらなかった。初めてこのアルバムを通して聴いて呆然とした。このアルバムは通して聴かないと意味がない。

The BeatlesのSgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Bandは1967年発表の通算8枚目のアルバム。1曲目のSgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Bandから始まり、最後のA Day In The Lifeまで架空のバンドによるコンセプトアルバムが聞ける。特におススメなのはLucy In The Sky With Diamonds。 このアルバムは特にmonoで聞いた方がロックな感じがします。
