MIRRORED, the long awaited third album release from New York quartet Battles, has proven to be well worth the wait. A complete eclipse of their earlier work, MIRRORED embodies all the prior ideas and qualities that have surrounded the group and extrapolates exponentially upon them. The fractured rhythms, crystalline staccato guitar lines and throttling drums still remain. New textures and horizons become attainable through the addition of focal courtesy of Tyondai Braxton, though the vocals certainly aren't what one would expect. Creatively applied and manipulated through various forms of technical expertise, the addition of these vocals evoke qualities of a completely new and innovative instrument, with or without the use of lyrics.

exHELMETのﾄﾞﾗﾏｰ、ｼﾞｮﾝ･ｽﾀｲﾅｰを始めとした、確かな技術を誇る猛者たちが、ﾃｸﾉやｴﾚｸﾄﾛも操りつつ、繰り広げる超絶ﾊﾞﾄﾙ。②における踊れや踊れ的な祭囃子にも似た高揚感とｸﾞﾙｰｳﾞ、④においてたたみかけるように押し寄せる音塊、⑥はﾌﾟﾛｸﾞﾚｯｼｳﾞとも言える驚愕の展開。などなど聴き所は絶えない。聴き込むほどに圧巻である。

１曲目２曲目を聴いてありかな～っとは思いマスタ。が、3曲目で少しなしかな～って思い、4曲目でやっぱりありかな～って思いマスタ。しかし！5曲め以降はなしかな～って事で、このような評価となりマスタ。。
