一聴するとポリーニやコヴァセヴィチのよう...

一聴するとポリーニやコヴァセヴィチのようなエネルギー全開のピアノではないので物足りなく感じるかもしれない。しかし、シフもオーケストラもバルトークの微妙なリズムの緩急を見事に表現している。これこそが最もリズミックな演奏であると思う。美しいピアノの音色、雄弁でバランスの良いオケ、優秀な録音などこれまでの全集で総合的に一番ではないだろうか。

Performances of power and delicacy (one doesn’t usually associate that word with these works but its often called for from performers and ignored!) Probably the most humane and satisfying versions of these three great works.

A.シフはTeldecに移籍してから円熟を身につけ始め更に録音の改善もありたいへん魅力的なピアニストになってきた。その成果の一つがこれ。Deccaへの録音からシフの曖昧なタッチがいまいちと思っていた人はぜひ聞きなおして欲しい。これほどのタッチはきけるものではない。
