All six suites were recorded in one week at the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City in December, 2008, following years of preparation by Mr. Bailey. “I was unaware of the depths of the music as a young person, but came to realize that there are so many ways of interpreting Bach that it channels where a cellist is at that precise moment. 大きく野太く重いチェロらしい音、深く息を吸い、じっくり、スケールの大きい演奏、力籠めてのバッハを聴かせてくれるアメリカの新星、ベイリー。メルクルさんとのドヴォコンでも、同様の演奏で、好感持てました。バッハに掛ける思いは、ビンビン伝わってきます。老年の名匠となった人の演奏もいいが、ちょっと荒削りな位の、豪胆な演奏も如何。ここまでやられると、気持ちいい。

　　発売前予約で入手し乍ら、極く有触れた演奏とお蔵入りでした。然し最近になって改めて聴いてみますと別してその様な事は無く、實に立派な演奏です。Telark の録音にしては明瞭さに欠け、且、快速快演ではない、やや遅めの演奏なのでそう感じたものでしょう。時の経過で感覚も変わります。
