Known for his smooth and romantic tunes and heartfelt lyrics, Babyface has been responsible for the contemporary shape of R&B and American pop music. Producing thirty five number one hits in U.S. and winning 10 Grammy Awards, Babyface is without doubt one of the most successful and influential R&B singer/songwriter/producers.

Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds was born April 10, 1959 in Indianapolis to a large family. During his early teenage years, he began his professional musical career in the backup band of Bootsy Collins, who gave Edmonds his moniker. He then recorded several albums as singer/guitarist of the Manchild and then joined the funk band the Deele, where he met drummer and his longtime partner Antonio "L.A." Reid.

The Deele broke up in 1987 after scoring a handful of hits, including 'Two Occasions' and 'Shoot'em Up Movies'. Babyface and L.A. Reid began producing and writing songs for other artists. Among the first fruits of the project are Whispers, Pebbles and Klymaxx. When Bobby Brown's 1988 solo debut, 'Don't Be Cruel' hit the market, L.A. Reid and Babyface sound grew into a phenomenon. The pair also established their own label LaFace Records, and introduced such hopefuls as Usher, TLC, Toni Braxton and Outkast to the world. The duo continued to produce a slew of R&B hits until they slowly parted ways in 1992.

Babyface sharpened his writing and production skills and decided to do it himself. He has written hits and produced albums for the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Celine dion, Mary J Blige, and most notably, Boyz II Men, whose 1992 single 'End Of The Road' topped the U.S. chart for then-record of 13th consecutive week. Between '92 and '98, Babyface was the most sought-after producer/songwriter in the world. Among the many hits from that period were 'Don't Be Cruel' (Bobby Brown), 'Superwoman' (Karyn White), 'Baby Baby Baby' (TLC), 'I'm Your Baby Tonight' (Whitney Houston), 'Take A Bow' (Madonna), 'Breathe Again' (Toni Braxton), 'True Colors' (Phil Collins) and 'Change The World' (Eric Clapton).

Babyface has sold millions of records, hitting two ways - as a producer/songwriter and as a solo act. Although his 1986 solo debut 'Lovers' failed to hit mainstream charts, the sophomore album, 'Tender Lover' (1989) made the breakthrough. He then released a string of successful solo albums, including 'For The Cool In You' (1993), 'The Day' (1996) and 'Face 2 Face' (2001). The albums spawned such hits as 'Tender Lover' and 'It's No Crime', 'My Kinda Girl', 'Whip Appeal', 'Never Keeping Secrets', 'For The Cool In You', 'Everytime I Close My Eyes' (with Kenny G) and 'When Can I See You'. In 1997, he appeared on MTV's 'Unplugged' show and collaborated with the likes of Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder. The performance was released as 'MTV Unplugged' later that year. He also released the holiday album, 'Christmas with Babyface' in 1998 and the greatest hits album, 'Collection Of His Greatest Hits' in 2000.

In Decmeber, 2003, Babyface is releasing the two-disc compilation, 'Love Melodies - Greatest Songbook By Babyface', exclusively in Japan. The set is the first comprehensive compilation of Babyface's works as producer/songwriter, and includes songs by the likes of Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, Toni Braxton, TLC, Usher, Next, Phil Collins and Aretha Franklin, as well as some of his own biggest hits.
