北アイルランド出身の三人組、驚異のティーンエイジ・バンドとしてデビューしたアッシュ。本作は1995年に彼らが発表したデビュー・ミニ・アルバム。メタリカや、同郷の大先輩シン・リジーに影響を受けたと公言していた彼らは、ここで早くも独自のヘヴィネス、新世代らしいパンキッシュなサウンドを聴かせていた。後に聴かせることになるメロディ・センスと破壊力充分なサウンドとの高次元での融合、といった方向性も曲によっては垣間見せてくれる。「宿題があるから」という理由でパール・ジャム、グリーン・デイといった先輩バンドからのツアー・サポートの話を蹴ったことも当時話題となった。
